Installing a pack

Three Steps, and You Stay in Control.

The 20 built-in widgets come with REC Widgets. Widget packs are optional extras you choose to add, and you can remove them at any time.

    Get a signed pack

    Download a .recwidgetpack file from this page. Each one is signed by REC Ventures, and its checksum is listed beside the download.

  2. 2

    Review it in REC Widgets

    Open Widget Packs in the manager and choose Install Widget Pack. REC Widgets shows the publisher, fingerprint, widgets, and any permission requests before anything is installed.

  3. 3

    Place the widgets

    The pack's widgets join your widget library. Add them to the desktop, and their position, size, and settings are remembered like every other widget.

Verify the publisher

Every pack here is signed with the REC Ventures publisher key. REC Widgets shows the key fingerprint during install, and it should match this one.

A widget pack describes what a widget should show. REC Widgets draws it with its own trusted components, so a pack never runs third-party code on your computer.

For how pack permissions, network requests, and widget data are handled, read the REC Widgets Privacy Policy.

  • No scripts, HTML, CSS, WebAssembly, or native code inside a pack
  • Signed with Ed25519 and verified before install, and unsigned packs are refused
  • You review the publisher and its fingerprint, and trust is always your explicit choice
  • Any permission is limited to named HTTPS sites and is shown up front
  • Uninstalling asks for confirmation, removes the pack's widgets, and keeps your saved layouts
