Each widget is its own desktop window with persisted position, size, settings, and lifecycle. The window engine is designed to survive restarts and recover sensibly across Windows monitor and DPI changes.

REC Widgets stores widget instances, layout information, settings, and widget-specific state through a schema-versioned persistence layer. Running timers and stopwatches derive elapsed time from timestamps instead of constantly writing display frames.
